Description

An inspiring business opportunity to acquire this stunning corner period building,  structurally converted and having permits to be further converted into five separate residences making it a fantastic ‘buy to let’ investment in the historic three cities area and within very close proximity to the sea.  Senglea is also known as ‘Citta Invicta’ (invincible city) this title was given because it managed to resist the Ottoman invasion at the Great Siege of Malta in 1565 and is a fortified city in the southeastern region of Malta surrounded by historical attractions and enjoying excellemt transport routes,  including a frequent catamaran service to the UNESCO protected capital city of Valletta. The name Senglea comes from the Grand Master who built it - Claude de la Sengle and gave the city a part of his name.  The property is spread on four floors with the potential to have a one bedroom at semi basement level with its own entrance from the street, a further attractive one-bedroom unit on ground floor benefiting from a wonderful balcony and beautiful period features, a further one bedroom unit with impressive high ceilings on first floor level as well as a two bedroom unit at this same level and the potential to build a one bedroom penthouse with sizable terrace.  All permits issued and in hand making this a very attractive proposition and excellent long-term investment.

Local Information Senglea (Isla)

This small city, one of the so-called Three Cities, stands on a narrow promontory jutting into Grand Harbour. The land was fortified in 1551 by Grand Master Claude de la Sengle. The Maltese often use the area's earlier name, L-Isla, meaning the island or perhaps short for `peninsula'. During the Great Siege of 1565, Senglea was protected by Fort St. Michael on its landward side and by Fort St. Angelo on the tip of Vittoriosa across the creek. The heroic role played by its people led Grand Master Jean de la Valette to give the city the title of Citta' Invicta, the invincible city. Like its sister cities, Senglea suffered heavy damage during World War II. More than 75 percent of its buildings were destroyed. The parish church dedicated to the Nativity of the Madonna was rebuilt and retains its artistic heritage. The city is noted for its superb harbour views across to Valletta from Safe Haven Gardens at Senglea Point. The stone vedette, known as Il-Gardjola, on the bastion-point served as a look-out post to guard the harbour entrance. The sculptured eye and ear above its windows are symbols of vigilance.
